13 October 2024: ASPIRE Programme: Keringkam revival by Salliza binti Sideni
Ms. Salliza binti Sideni (fondly known as Liza), the Head of Museums and Education for the Brooke Museums, in her talk “ASPIRE Programme: Keringkam revival” she discussed the preservation and conservation of the art of keringkam. The Brooke Museum, through its ASPIRE programme, addresses two key issues facing local society – the potential loss of an intangible cultural heritage and the and the challenges facing youth. This project brings together capacity building and upskilling youth in the conservation and preservation of heritage textiles. Liza will enable us to see the evolution of this journey.
Liza, along with her other roles, is the Project Manager of Brooke Museums ASPIRE Programme sponsored by Yayasan Hasanah. She is an educator-turned museums manager, who is passionate about Sarawak’s heritage and cultures. She believes these are priceless and should be preserved and sustained. Liza hopes that through her passion, she will be able to educate the future generations about Sarawak’s invaluable heritage.
