2017 January to April: A Stroll through Kuching’s Chinese History

The 2-hour docent-led tour of the Chinese History Museum touched on the origins of the Chinese, the various communities with their distinct local culture briefly covering: education, music, religion, and festivals. After the museum tour, participants went on a stroll along Ewe Hai and Carpenter Streets to take a closer look at the typical features of a Hokkien temple versus a Hainanese temple and learn what the trades and shops make them typical Chinese. These tours were organised jointly with the Sarawak Heritage Society.
